Ruffwear Front Range Harness Product Review
Thanks to my sister-in-law and niece, Bullett also received a gift from our registry: A Ruffwear Front Range Harness.
I had been wanting to get Bullett a harness for some time, and Ruffwear was a brand I had my eye on. This company was founded on the idea that our canine companions should be with us for all of our adventures. Ruffwear creates performance wear for active, working, and search and rescue dogs. In addition, Ruffwear partners with the organization called Conservation Canines that works to rescue “hard-to-home” dogs and trains them to use their high-energy to sniff out scat to collect data that can be used to help preserve our natural resources. In 2015, Ruffwear joined forces with Best Friends Animal Society to launch their “Ruff Adventure Dog Program” where Ruffwear funds adoption and travel fees to match up outdoor adventurers with active companions.
Ruffwear’s products can be a bit pricy, but you get what you pay for in quality and longevity.
The Front Wear Range Harness is part of Ruffwear’s Conservation Canines collection. Bullett is around 50lbs, so his Blue Dusk harness is a medium. Bullett is a strong, active, high-energy dog that thoroughly enjoys being outside and often expresses this by pulling on his leash. This harness gives me control, keeps him comfortable, and is such high-quality that I know this product will last us a long time. It has two leash attachments--an aluminum ring on the shoulders that is solid and works well for everyday use. There is reinforced webbing at the dog’s chest for extra security or training. This harness is perfect for hiking when Bullett is often way ahead of our “pack” and keeps him safe and secure should he slip up on rough terrain. It’s easy to take on and off, and is comfortable for the dog to wear (unlike most strappy harnesses) where he might not even be aware he is on a lead while wearing it. If it gets dirty, it is easy to clean.
This is our first Ruffwear product, and we are obviously very impressed. We for sure will be saving our pennies for more excellent active gear to be used when we take Bullett on our adventures with us.
