The Silver Screen Project
I have always romanticized the golden age of Hollywood, and imagine that I was born in the wrong era. Not only do I enjoy the films, but I love the sheer class and poise displayed by that era's stars in the public eye. I know that every era has its social ills, but I want to set those aside with this project and take photographs of friends and acquaintances that portray an actor or actress of their choice. These portraits are not only for enjoyment, but also play with the idea of mainstream culture and celebrities. When photographs are taken now, they are corrected with airbrushing and various tools in Photoshop. Although the golden age was captured with film, photographers had to spend hours painting on the physical emulsions in order to edit their work. This project is ongoing, please email Emily for more information or to participate.
