Spring 2021: An Update

Hi there.

It’s been a while.

While my little site has been extremely quiet, I have had a lot going on. You probably know why if you follow me on social media.

I’ll go ahead and get this out of the way, but Tobias and I bought a house!!!

If you know us personally, you might know that this was a long time coming. We lived in a very old, shabby apartment for almost six years. We are very excited to not have birds living in the walls and just have some space and quiet in rural Wisconsin. We will be about 40 minutes south of Madison—close enough to still enjoy the parts of the city that we enjoy, but far away enough where we can enjoy small-town living….and have a giant yard for the dogs (I’ll get to that) and a garden! More to come as we continue to get settled, I’m sure.

While I don’t know how anyone gets anything done during the home buying process (seriously, I don’t know how we did) I have been keeping busy. I’m still working from home and business at my full-time job is slowly picking up. I’m finally checking “attending a virtual conference” off my pandemic bingo card. The Singular Fortean Society has been plenty busy coming out with news articles, content, podcast appearances, cons are coming back, and all that fun stuff. On top of that, Tobias is putting out book #2 and we even recorded a documentary with Small Town Monsters. Stay tuned for more details on all that.

With that being said, I don’t really have a whole lot else to update you on. This is the entire reason I haven’t grown any milkweed, and I really don’t know what my butterfly season will be like. I hope to at least begin work on a pollinator garden so the Monarchs can find me ASAP. I am working on rebranding my plant/pollinator arm of my brand which will be a slow rollout but….I want it to be more focused on the butterflies than flexing my houseplants.

For the time being, here are a few houseplant glamour shots and some photos of springtime in the neighborhood we just left behind, as well as a couple of shots of our new addition to the family—Jadzia! She’s a 6 month old pup that was found as a stray in Alabama. She’s been a perfect fit for our family

Ta ta for now,

Emily
