Spring 2022: Long Time, No Blog + Photos of Orchids (From February...Ha!)

…Long time, no see!

I definitely broke my streak of blogging at least once, seasonally. I definitely had some posts drafted…but between feeling uninspired and busy, I just deleted them and will start anew. Let’s try this again!

If you follow our work at The Singular Fortean Society or my personal accounts on social media, you’ll know what I’ve been up to over these past several months. Just to summarize it: I still work for the same place I have been, Singular Fortean is staying weird, and I’m still growing all the plants and hanging out with our four sweet and furry family members.

I feel like this blog entry is a very pointless update, not much has changed in my world...but I guess the most major thing is that I am OPEN for book cover commissions (as posted on my social accounts)!

After doing the covers for our books and The Feminine Macabre series, and a couple of other paranormal authors, I’ve decided to open up my schedule to independent authors looking for book cover design. I only have so much time to do freelance projects, so I would like to take on book cover projects with any time I open up. I will likely keep commissions open until this fall when I will likely close for the later part of the year. I primarily work with paranormal authors who publish independently through Amazon, but I am open to working with any author of any subject or publisher. Email me at emilywayland13@gmail.com or the contact form on this website if interested.

Other than that, I’m hoping to create more things and continue to grow and thrive in life. It’s hard to believe we are almost at our one-year anniversary of buying and living at our house. I’m happy to report we are still loving it. I do find myself missing Madison a lot at times (especially when the plant store posts new stock) but I’m glad that it’s not far. Being out in the quiet in the country to grow a garden without limitations and having been able to add Jadzia and Umbra to our family is a dream come true. We have so much more space now, and all the underlying tension that used to just exist on the daily from the stress of being in such a small space in the city has simply dissipated. We have more room for more dreams and I cannot wait to see what else we come up with.

I know that’s not much of an update….it’s more-or-less a short rambling to get a blog post up after a long hiatus, but if you read this far…thank you for still being with me and following me and my art. In the spirit of posting things that are long overdue, please enjoy some photos I took from Olbrich Gardens’ Orchid Escape display in February that I just edited:
