Mammoth Cave National Park 2023

In Late July/Early August, we ventured to the rolling green hills of Kentucky to first visit some friends in Louisville followed by a camping trip to Mammoth Cave National Park.

It had been to Mammoth Cave before on a family trip when I was younger. Pretty sure I was only 12 or 13 at the time. I remember the cave being large. I remember the guide turning off the lights so we could experience complete darkness as the cave had been for thousands of years prior to human discovery. I remember nature completely blowing me away then by it’s artistic ability as it has in so many ways during my 36 years.

Well, long story short…Mammoth Cave’s majesty and incredible history blew me away again, leaving me inspired in a way as I did leaving Acadia last year, and so many other vacations to National Parks and natural areas that impacted me growing up that I was so privileged to have experienced.

I do hope to go back someday.
