October & November (Fall) 2020: Life In Photos, Season of Change

This entry is OBVIOUSLY incredibly late. It feels like a lot has been going on, doesn’t it? What. A. Year.

This fall was busy with hikes around Holy Hill in the Kettle Moraine, jaunts to the dog park, daily mundanity, zoom calls, anxiety, and soaking up as much sunshine as possible before winter hits. We spent Thanksgiving at home for obvious reasons, and I must say I am proud of us for cooking a full meal like that. It was delicious, but it was a TON of work. I have newfound appreciation for people who do this each and every year.

I also recently decided to tackle months of plant neglect and maintenance. I kept my green friends watered and did the bare minimum to keep them going, but I did have a few casualties and had much potting, pruning, and general clean-up to do. Surprisingly, I’ve had no pests in many months….just a random note before I get to my point. Anyways, hours of repotting and caring for all these plants made me remember why I have and love them all in the first place. Again, these chores were a simple joy. If you ever find yourself in a slump, look to the things you love. They may just lift you up to move forward.

This is an off-December for us. All the Christmas Markets we enjoy visiting are closed due to the pandemic, but we are trying to make the best of it. Some days are harder than others, but I hope to survive this winter with plenty of Hallmark movies and seeing what plants bloom.

Hang in there,

~Emily
